I was very honored to have been able to have opportunity to help out a couple of good friends and crew mates execute their idea for a Tony Gwynn Mural Tribute. Tony Gwynn is a baseball legend and San Diego icon who was respected as much off as he was on the field for his craftsmanship, character, and loyalty to the City of San Diego. This project was spearheaded by Zone, who came up with the idea and Mr. Padre sketch, and Sake, who created the amazing Tony Gwynn portrait in addition to a lot of organizational, logistics, and media promotional work. I played a supporting role in helping to obtain some support for supplies from Ironak, WST, and Writerz Blok in addition to numerous digital mock ups, and numerous late nights of grunt work painting. Credit goes to Unique ASK XMEN for helping out with painting and to DazeRoc for also assisting with painting and video documentation of the project.
The entire process was an awesome experience of which to be a part. The scale of this mural made the project somewhat challenging but I’m very proud of how the team came together to make this vision a reality for the City of San Diego. Thank you to Rocco at Undisputed Gym for allowing us to use his building as canvas. And last but not least, we appreciate all of the support, financial and otherwise, and the tremendous feedback we’ve received in the process of creating this tribute!
